Tim Horne – Owner, Star City Golf Club
Hi, I’m Tim Horne, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring Star City Golf Club to Roanoke, VA.
My career has always revolved around hospitality and service. From my time at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, to working in restaurants, bars, and clubs across the country, I learned that great experiences are built on attention to detail, passion, and people.
For the past seven years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a professional club caddie at Kinloch Golf Club in Manakin Sabot, VA. Kinloch is a truly special place, and those years combined my two greatest passions: golf and customer service. I thought I’d carry bags for our members and guests until I was too old to do it anymore—it was that rewarding.
But on a very cold December day in 2024, everything changed. An “idea” sparked: what if Roanoke had a place where golf could be played, practiced, and enjoyed year-round? With a little research, that idea quickly became a dream… then a mission.
Thanks to the encouragement and support of family, friends, and the community, that mission is becoming a reality. Star City Golf Club will open its doors in the fall of 2025, providing a space where golfers of all levels can come together to play, learn, compete, and have fun—rain or shine.
I can’t wait to welcome you to Roanoke’s premier indoor golf experience and share my love for the game in a whole new way.

Taylor Renaud, Manager – Star City Golf Club
Hi, I’m Taylor Renaud and I’m thrilled to welcome you to our space and share a little about my journey.
I graduated from Virginia Tech (go Hokies!) and have spent the last several years growing through a mix of customer service, retail, and healthcare interior design. My time as a healthcare designer really shaped how I approach spaces and people. I worked closely with clients and end-users to help create environments that met their functional needs, while still feeling comfortable and welcoming. That experience taught me the importance of listening, anticipating needs, and building relationships – skills I now bring into this exciting new chapter.
While I truly enjoyed the design world, the opportunity to manage this new indoor golf facility felt like the perfect next step. It combines my love of thoughtful environments, connecting with the community and creating fun, supportive spaces where everyone feels comfortable, whether you’re an experienced golfer or just getting started.
At Star City Golf Club, I hope you’ll find more than just golf — I want it to be a space where people can focus on their game, enjoy great company, and have a genuinely fun and easygoing time.
I am excited for you to experience everything that is Star City Golf Club!
